This Easter sermon centers on the repeated words, “Do not be afraid.” Drawing from Matthew’s account of the resurrection, it reflects on how angels announced both Jesus’ birth and His rising, and how in each moment God’s message was comfort, not fear. The empty tomb is presented not as a place Jesus needed help leaving, but as a sign opened for the women—and for all believers—to see that death has truly been conquered.
The sermon says that through Jesus’ death and resurrection, every barrier between sinners and God has been removed. Sin, death, and the devil have lost their power, and believers are welcomed into God’s presence by grace alone. Because the risen Christ says, “Do not be afraid,” Christians can live with courage, trust His forgiveness when they fail, and go out as His messengers to share the good news with joy.
