Advent - Colossians 1:21-23

21 December 2025

The sermon centers on Jesus as the one who renews broken people. Drawing from Colossians 1, it describes humanity as stained by sin, alienated from God, and unable to heal itself. The heart of the message is that Christmas means God became human in Jesus to enter that ruin, die in humanity’s place, and reconcile people to himself. Through Christ, those who trust him are not only forgiven but declared holy, blameless, and welcomed into God’s presence, with the promise that he will keep transforming them until that renewal is complete.

It also urges believers to remain grounded in the gospel rather than looking elsewhere for hope or change. Perseverance, life in the church, prayer, Scripture, and confidence in the Holy Spirit are presented as means by which Christ’s renewing work continues. The sermon closes by calling Christians to share this good news with others and inviting anyone who has not yet trusted Jesus to turn to him for restoration and new life.
