The Gospel According to Luke - Luke 11:14-26
25 January 2026
The sermon says this difficult passage is a wake-up call about the spiritual battle people often fail to notice. Using the image of dense fog, it argues that sin blinds and disorients people so badly that they can mistake the merciful work of Jesus for something evil. The preacher urges listeners not to treat sin lightly, but to bring it into the light through repentance, trusting that Jesus forgives, cleanses, and gives the Holy Spirit to help people turn from what destroys them.
It also presents Jesus as the stronger one who has come to confront Satan, free people from darkness, and bring God’s kingdom near. Because of that, there is no neutral ground: a person is either with Jesus or against him. The closing warning is that moral self-improvement or an “empty, tidy house” is not enough; a life must be filled with the presence and rule of Christ. The sermon calls people to honest self-examination and wholehearted surrender to Jesus.
