The Gospel According to Luke - Luke 11:29-36

8 February 2026

In this sermon on Luke 11, the pastor says Jesus confronts a deep human tendency toward willful blindness. Like the crowds who kept asking for more signs, people often resist what is already clear because accepting the truth would mean repentance and change. Jesus points to Jonah as the only sign they will receive, showing that something far greater is already before them: God’s mercy, truth, and saving power fully revealed in Christ.

He then explains Jesus’ image of light and darkness, saying the real issue is not a lack of light but a refusal to let it in. Jesus came to bring sight to the blind and lead people out of sin, deception, and death. The sermon calls both seekers and Christians to stop hiding from God, to bring sin into the open, and to turn again toward the light of Christ, who alone can forgive, renew, and make people truly whole.
