The Gospel According to Luke - Luke 12:13-21

1 March 2026

The sermon centers on Jesus’ warning in the parable of the rich fool: a person’s life is not found in having more. It explains that wealth and possessions make a shaky foundation because they cannot secure the future, satisfy the soul, truly belong to us, or prepare anyone for God’s judgment. The preacher urges listeners to see life from the perspective of eternity, where greed and self-centered living are exposed as empty and dangerous.

At the same time, the message is hopeful. It presents Jesus as the one who offers the lasting life that money cannot buy: forgiveness, security, joy, and an eternal inheritance with God. The call is to turn from covetousness, receive God’s gifts with gratitude, and live richly toward God by surrendering one’s whole life to Christ and using what one has for his glory and the good of others.
